FS Studio designed a block wide public realm precinct adjacent to Seattle’s iconic Freeway Park. This multi-use redevelopment incorporates office, residential, retail, and refurbished historic building and well-loved cultural institution, Seattle’s Town Hall.
The public realm design includes two public mews that connect mid-block to a significant terraced plaza with water features, biofiltration planters, a variety of seating opportunities, lush vegetation and programmable space. The design expresses the site’s topography through a series of interconnected platforms and terraces that support activity spilling from Town Hall, as well as the new development’s retail and restaurants. Detailing is influenced by and linked to the lush terracing of the adjacent iconic West Coast modern Freeway Park.
