Kelty McKinnon is a Landscape Architect and a Director / Principal at PFS Studio. With over 20 years of professional experience, Kelty brings a diverse background in landscape architecture, art, and environmental studies to all of the projects she leads at PFS. Specializing in projects dealing with the public realm, she is committed to the creation of unique, equitable, innovative, and meaningful public spaces that are rooted in place. Kelty has played a key role in several high-profile open space projects across Canada and the US including Redmond Downtown Park in Washington, Nike’s North American Headquarters in Oregon and Lansdowne Park on the Rideau Canal. She is Principal in Charge on a number of Vancouver’s most prestigious projects such as the West End Waterfront Parks and Beach Avenue Plan, the new Vancouver Art Gallery with Herzog and de Meuron, and Alberni by Kuma with Kengo Kuma.

Kelty lectures widely on topics related to landscapes and equity, and has taught design studios and theory courses focusing on the production of emergent landscapes that engage environmental and cultural ecologies. She is currently collaborating with UBC’s School of Landscape Architecture on the MITACS Design for Sea Level Rise Study—a three year study analyzing innovative landscape-driven solutions to climate change and livability.
