Marta Farevaag is a Founding Principal of PFS Studio. As a registered planner, she works at the interface of urban planning with landscape architecture and urban design, and focuses on integrating planning strategies into design solutions. Areas of expertise include land use planning, design guidelines, heritage resource planning, commercial area revitalization, campus, park, and open space master plans, and public consultation processes. She regularly works on multidisciplinary teams addressing land use and urban design assignments.
Over the past 36 years Marta has been a key player in the firm’s success through her exceptional skills as a strategist, facilitator, visionary, and professional planning expert. Marta has contributed to numerous projects ranging from policy statements, rezonings, design guidelines, and development permit submissions for projects such as Little Mountain, Oakridge, and the Plaza of Nations District in Vancouver. Marta was also the Principal in Charge for the award-winning Hastings Park/PNE Plan.
Marta was the planner on the PFS team for the East Bayfront Public Realm Plan for Waterfront Toronto, a redevelopment initiative for a new waterfront community of 10,000 people with an innovative public realm structure and a strong focus on sustainable infrastructure. She was on the team for the redevelopment of Lansdowne Park in Ottawa with a role in active programming of spaces for events and festivals and in adaptive reuse of heritage features for new activities. She was responsible for the planning and public consultation for Redmond Downtown Park in Redmond Washington, and the Moodyville Park in North Vancouver.
