Makoto’s professional experience varies in realms and scales from public parks to intimate gardens. He has over ten years of experience across the Canada and the United States, where he focused on designing waterfronts, plazas, and academic and corporate campuses.
At PFS Studio, he has been managing complex large-scale projects including urban infill developments, public spaces, green roofs and energy infrastructure with a focus on urban stormwater management, and preserving and promoting ecosystem services. Currently he leads the day-to-day coordination and design development for projects across the country.
Makoto is a licensed Landscape Architect in the State of New York and Washington, and an accredited Green Roof Professional. He was also one of the designers for the winning entry of the SLANT international design competition.
