True North Square is a mixed-use complex in downtown Winnipeg and adjacent to the MTS Centre.
The main component of the public realm is a public plaza at the heart of the development that is envisioned as a vibrant space with multiple layers of activity. The plaza is designed as an open and inviting space to be used on a day to day basis with sculptural seating elements and an interactive water feature forming the main components of the space. Also incorporated into the design of the plaza is the supporting infrastructure to transform the space into a functional event venue. A raised intersection provides an at-grade connection to the MTC Centre and creates a larger urban public realm that can be programmed for special civic and entertainment events. A unified approach to paving materials and patterning connects the True North Plaza to the greater urban context.
