University Square is the new outdoor social heart of campus. Adjacent to the Student Union Building (The Nest) and Alumni Centre, the space is open and flexible, allowing diverse programs and activities to transform the plaza throughout the year. The simplicity of University Square ensures that functional and programmatic objectives can be met while still providing a highly animated and vibrant social space. The plaza is defined on all edges by integrated seating elements including The Porch – a raised terrace adjacent to interior food services that allows uses to spill out in nice weather.

The plaza incorporates diverse amenities that invite engagement and enable events including plug-ins, wi-fi, large scale event lighting, and power for campus wide celebrations. Informal recreation amenities such as a basketball court and ping pong tables will provide an additional layer of program, use and animation.
