PFS Studio worked with KPMB and Stantec to integrate this new downtown Toronto campus within the redeveloping waterfront of Lake Ontario. George Brown College is now a significant part of the new Bayside Neighbourhood (that was planned in part by PFS Studio) and takes full advantage of its adjacencies to the Lake and to Sherbourne Common – the award winning waterfront park designed by PFS.
Blurring the interface of private and public realms allowed PFS Studio to expand the perceived boundaries of the condensed site of George Brown College by erasing property line distinctions. In addition to the street level landscape development, an upper social terrace and green roof are featured in the design. This roof terrace provides expansive views to the lake and is heavily programmed by the facility administration for fund raising events and other school functions.
