Oakridge Centre, a major shopping complex located in the heart of Vancouver along the Canada Line transit route, is undergoing a total redevelopment as a vital mixed use, complete community for work, play, shopping, and recreation. This highly challenging project has received City Council support for rezoning, and the shopping centre will be renewed in phases with the existing retailers continuing in operation throughout.
The jewel of the comprehensive open space system is a 9 acre public park, one of the largest parks over structure in the world. This rooftop park is comprised of a network of park recreation activities, including sports, games, children’s play, fitness, outdoor performance spaces, a seasonal garden and running / walking trails. At street level a High Street, urban plazas and vibrant streetscapes will connect the project back to its adjacent neighbourhoods, the city’s greenway system and the Canada Line. Taken together they will provide an active and diverse social heart for the surrounding neighbourhood.
